The Stan Natchez Gallery showcases the innovative work of Stan Natchez, a nationally recognized artist whose paintings merge pop art influences—Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns, T.C. Niman Fine Art

Niman Fine Art is a family-owned gallery representing internationally acclaimed Tewa-Hopi artist Dan Namingha and his sons, Arlo and Michael. Dan’s contemporary paintings blend abstraction and realism with powerful graphic presence, honoring the land, spirit, and ancestral heritage at the center of his work.

Arlo creates refined sculptures in wood, bronze, and stone, while Michael specializes in multimedia and site-specific installations. Together, the gallery showcases a dynamic intergenerational vision that continues to shape contemporary Indigenous art.

Cara Romero (Chemehuevi) is a leading contemporary fine art photographer known for her vivid, theatrical, and deeply narrative images. Raised between the Chemehuevi reservation in the Mojave Desert and the cityscape of Houston, she brings a dynamic, bicultural perspective to her work—one that blends fine art and editorial techniques to reclaim and reframe Indigenous presence in modern life.

Working across film, digital, commercial, and fine art photography since 1998, Romero uses staged compositions, dramatic color, and storytelling to illuminate Indigenous worldviews, collective memory, and lived experience from a Native female perspective. Her award-winning work is held in major public and private collections worldwide and was featured on PBS’s Craft in America.

Based in Santa Fe, Romero maintains an active studio practice, regularly participates in Native art fairs and panels, and travels frequently to the Chemehuevi Valley to stay connected to her community and homelands.

R.C. Gorman Navajo Gallery

The R.C. Gorman Navajo Gallery honors the life and legacy of R.C. Gorman (1931–2005), the iconic Diné artist celebrated for his graceful, modern depictions of Native women and everyday Navajo life. Born near Canyon de Chelly in Chinle, Arizona, Gorman drew deeply from his upbringing, Navajo traditions, and the creative spirit of the Southwest.

After establishing his studio in Taos, Gorman became one of the most influential Native artists of the 20th century. His bold colors, fluid lines, and expressive forms garnered international acclaim and helped bring contemporary Native art to a global audience.

His signature techniques include coin incorporation with original dates, Seminole patchwork motifs, rocker-arm engraving, and Southeast concentric linework. With Mexican, Tohono O’odham, and Spanish ancestry, Rhiannon draws from her cultural lineages while bringing a modern sensibility to traditional arts. Her handwoven textiles—often inspired by unique landscapes and geological forms—are collected globally, with many clients commissioning bespoke pieces for both wardrobe and home.

George Alexander II (Muskogee-Creek), known as Ofuskie, is a contemporary artist whose work blends surrealist symbolism, Indigenous values, and a visionary humanitarian outlook. His paintings explore themes of time, dreams, landscape, and identity—using recurring motifs of humanity, animals, and cultural memory to examine the deeper subconscious. Through this introspective process, Ofuskie creates art that sparks dialogue on unity, compassion, and the ongoing pursuit of collective progress.

His current series reinterprets Flat Style, one of the earliest forms of contemporary Indigenous art originating from San Ildefonso Pueblo, Dorothy Dunn’s school, and Bacone College. Drawing from a hardscrabble upbringing on the Navajo Nation, Cody pairs determination and imagination to create pieces that radiate positivity, brightness, and a signature sense of fun.

Blending hand-forging techniques with modern CAD and 3D printing, Sanderson pushes Native jewelry into the 21st century while honoring tradition. His award-winning work—including honors from SWAIA and the Heard Museum—is celebrated for its sculptural forms, refined craftsmanship, and surprising comfort, even in the most dramatic designs.

Orlando Dugi (Diné) creates exquisite, hand-crafted garments inspired by childhood nights spent stargazing on his grandparents’ sheep ranch in northern Arizona. Rooted in Diné celestial teachings and the philosophy of “Walk in Beauty,” his work embodies harmony, elegance, and cultural memory.

Using wool, cotton, and silk, Dugi employs traditional dyeing, weaving, and hand-sewing techniques, ornamenting each piece with meticulous beadwork and couture-level detailing. His fashion honors Navajo traditions of adornment while elevating them into contemporary luxury—garments meant to be worn with intention and reverence.

House of Sutai — Peshawn Bread

House of Sutai (soo-tai), meaning “bless” in Comanche, is a luxury Indigenous fashion house founded by Peshawn Bread (Comanche/Kiowa/Cherokee)—a nonbinary designer, filmmaker, and creative director. Launched in 2023, the brand quickly gained acclaim for its bold fusion of storytelling, Indigenous design, and LGBTQ+ / Two-Spirit representation.

In 2024, House of Sutai made its runway debut at SWAIA Native Fashion Week and has since been featured in Vogue, ELLE, The New York Times, and PBS, including collaborations like Planned Parenthood’s “We Decide” campaign. Inspired by Ballroom/Vogue culture, the “House” represents chosen family, community, and the emergence of a new Indigenous-led fashion house.

Hotel Santa Fe is the city’s only Native American–owned hotel, rooted in the heritage and hospitality of the Picuris Pueblo. Established through a landmark partnership with Picuris leadership in 1988, the hotel opened in 1991 and expanded with The Hacienda in 2001—marking a significant step toward economic sovereignty for one of the region’s oldest Pueblo communities.
