We deal mostly in vintage and overstock items that can be restored and/or upcycled. Due to the age of these items, most of them are smaller in size which refelcts sizing of the period the garment was made. We look for a variety of different materials and types of products, traditionally sized for both women and men to help offset some of this challenge. When doing small batch, we are as inclusive as possible and offer unisex sizing which often goest up to a 3xl size. Many of our jewelry items are also adjustable in nature.

About this piece
Dark Eyes and Her Navajo Blanket by Elizabeth K. Solem 1947
We’re honored to release the first drop from the 4KINSHIP Studio Library — a curated collection of vintage and gently used books gathered over decades of research, travel, design, and lived experience.
These titles have shaped our thinking. They’ve informed our dye practices, textile studies, Indigenous design ethics, land-based storytelling, and our broader creative journey. Some are rare. Some are well-loved. All have been part of the foundation of what became 4KINSHIP.
As we thoughtfully downsize our archives, we’re excited to pass these phenomenal reads forward — into new studios, homes, classrooms, and creative spaces.
May they inspire you the way they inspired us.
May they be used, referenced, dog-eared, and loved again.
Pages: 40
Dimensions: 10" x 7-1/2” Paperback
Condition: Gently use (minimal signs of use) small scuffs to paper cover, and gently aged thru time.
A beautifully illustrated 1947 pictorial reader introducing Navajo weaving through story and imagery.
Part of the Children of the World series by Encyclopaedia Britannica Press, this early educational volume reflects a mid-century perspective on Diné life and textile tradition. Originally designed as a skill-building reader, it blends cultural storytelling with literacy development in a format intended for young learners.
As with many publications of its era, the lens reflects the historical framework in which it was produced. Today, it stands as both a collectible artifact and a reference point in the evolving representation of Indigenous culture within American educational publishing.
An increasingly scarce title, ideal for collectors of Native studies ephemera, vintage children’s books, and archival educational materials.
