About this piece

++ Navajo Made Sterling Silver Tortoise Cuff++ by Diné artist Gino Antonio

Exquisite artistry by Diné artist Gino Antonio 🤎

Hand fabricated from sterling silver using traditional tufa stone casting and hand-stamping techniques, this heirloom-quality Tortoise Cuff embodies strength, resilience, and a deep connection to Diné homelands.

Each cuff begins as a one-of-a-kind creation, cast from hand-carved tufa stone and finished entirely by hand. No two are exactly alike. The natural textures left by the casting process create a landscape-like surface that echoes the rugged beauty of the Southwest.

Inspired by geometric forms found throughout the natural world, the Tortoise Cuff features an intricate hand-textured surface created through traditional tufa casting and stamping techniques. The repeating pattern creates a sense of movement while honoring the patience, endurance, and longevity symbolized by the tortoise. In many Indigenous teachings, the tortoise serves as a reminder to move with purpose, remain grounded, and carry wisdom forward through generations.

Though modest in width, the cuff carries a powerful presence on the wrist, balancing sculptural form with the organic textures characteristic of hand-carved tufa molds.

A compelling example of contemporary Diné jewelry innovation rooted in ancestral techniques, this wearable work of art is designed to be collected, cherished, and passed down through generations.
