About this piece

Upcycled Vintage Overshot Coverlet Jacket

Early 1900s Handwoven Textile | Star & Diamond Pattern

A wearable piece of textile history — reimagined.
This one-of-a-kind jacket is crafted from an early 1900s overshot wool-and-cotton coverlet, woven in the Star and Diamond pattern. Each thread carries the artistry of early American weaving traditions, revived through our process of transformation and preservation.

The Textile

Handwoven between 1900–1930, this textile features an indigo-dyed wool pattern weft and natural cotton warp, woven in two panels and hand-seamed at the center. The geometric “Star and Diamond” (also known as Lee’s Surrender or Star of Bethlehem) motif symbolizes harmony, craftsmanship, and balance — echoing centuries of American handweaving heritage.

The Piece

Cut and reimagined into a structured kimono-style jacket, this garment preserves the texture, irregularity, and spirit of the original weaver’s hand. Perfect layered over denim or linen, it bridges the worlds of heritage craft and contemporary design.
